HC Visionary Spotlight:
Daniel Moth, C++ AMP, Principle Program Manager

Daniel Moth, Principal Program Manager for C++ AMP at Microsoft is in our spotlight this month.  He is passionate about C++ AMP and will be speaking about Harnessing GPU Compute with C++ AMP at the AMD Fusion Developer Summit in June.  Also, check out his recorded webinar on C++ AMP and get his slides here.  We started off by asking him to tell us a little bit about himself and here's what he had to say.

"My name is Daniel Moth. I started with Microsoft in the UK in 2006, working on the Developer and Platform team. I moved to the US in 2008 to join the Parallel Computing team in Visual Studio. It was like joining a startup company within a company and incubated all kinds of parallelism-related technologies - some that shipped and some that didn’t. Outside of work I enjoy playing chess and, when I can get away from Seattle, SCUBA diving with my wife...." Read more here.

Adobe, Corel, x264 and More use OpenCL to Accelerate Consumer Apps

We launched our 2nd-Generation AMD A-Series Accelerated Processing Units (APUs, codenamed "Trinity") for mainstream markets this week.  The graphics included in this APU is an AMD Radeon™ HD 7000 Series graphics, which is very exciting when you think about the opportunity for GPU acceleration on low power consumer devices.  Over 100 applications and games exist today that take advantage of the APU, with recent additions such as Adobe Photoshop CS6, WinZip 16.5, VLC Media Player and Battlefield 3TM.  See the AMD APP Showcase to see for details.
