AMD Stream™ and Mercury Computer Systems accelerate FFT performance with GPUs AMD Stream™ and Mercury Computer Systems accelerate FFT performance with GPUs

At the June 17-20 International Supercomputer Conference in Dresden Germany (ISC 08), Mercury Computer Systems demonstrated a 1D complex single precision 1K FFT adapted and highly optimized for the soon-to-be-released AMD FireStream™ 9250 stream processor board. This board rates at 1 TFLOPS in single precision with 1 GB GDDR3 memory at fewer than 125 watts. Performance for the FFT, including inverse multiply and recomposition, was an unheard-of 312 GFLOPS. Applicable to a wide range of signal processing tasks, this demonstration hints to the underlying processing capability of AMD Stream technology.

Second Life Last Chance to Enter for a Chance to Win an AMD Spider PC

Our Second Annual AMD Treasure Hunt Game in Second Life ends August 1. Here are a few tips to find all the game stations (shhh, don't tell anyone!).
  1. The first game station is also the treasure hunt's billboard, which is just steps away from the island's teleport hub. Click on that billboard to get started.
  2. Become familiar with the Second Life mini-map and full map. Some of the clues require you to triangulate a station's location based upon Second Life's X/Y/Z grid coordinates. (X = east/west, Y = north/south, Z = elevation)
  3. Be sure to turn your sound on - one of the clues requires that you listen for a certain ambient sound to find the stations.
Best of luck!
